Otterword Privacy Policy

Otterword is a word-guessing game. We built it to collect as little as possible: no accounts and no analytics of our own. The free version shows ads, which is explained below.

What stays on your device

Your games, statistics and settings are saved only on your device. We never receive them. Deleting the app deletes this data.

Purchases

Otterword Plus is an optional one-time purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play); we never see your name, email or payment details.

To confirm and restore purchases we use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. When the app starts, RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous app user ID, your purchase receipts from the store, and basic technical details (app version, device type, operating system, country of your store account). This is used only to check whether you own Otterword Plus. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.

Advertising

If you don't have Otterword Plus, the app shows ads from Google AdMob: a small banner, and optional videos you can choose to watch for an extra practice word. To show and measure these ads, Google receives your device's advertising ID, your IP address (used for approximate location), information about the ads you see and tap, and basic technical details. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.

• Personalized ads. On iPhone, ads are personalized only if you allow it when Apple's "Allow tracking?" prompt appears. In the EU, UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent first, and you can change it any time in Settings → Ad privacy choices. Elsewhere you can reset or limit your advertising ID in your phone's settings.
• No ads at all. Otterword Plus removes all ads. Players with Plus never have data sent to AdMob.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information or build profiles of you ourselves. We never see the data Google collects for ads.

Children

Otterword is intended for players aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and ads are limited to content suitable for a general audience.

Your choices

You can erase all game data by deleting the app. For questions about purchase records held by RevenueCat or the stores, contact us and we will help.
